Talk show

Jump to: navigation, search

A talk show is any show in which almost the entirety of the show is comprised of interviews with guests—usually film and TV stars and creators, authors, musicians, journalists or politicians, although many talk shows involve non-celebrity guests—and commentary by the host or hosts. The majority of true talk shows air during the daytime hours—such as The View, The Jane Pauley Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show. A few talk shows are hosted by journalists and discuss more serious topics, such as Meet the Press, Face the Nation and The Charlie Rose Show. Many so-called "late night talk shows," such as Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Late Show with David Letterman, involve a more comedic tone often interspersed with comedy bits and sketches and musical acts, but these shows are more accurately described as variety shows.
