When Shaggy and Scooby disrupt a track meet from being chased by a monster, the meet's promoter notes they unofficially beat a track speed record. Shaggy is entreated to enter the World Invitational Games with Scooby as his coach, but the real reason is that the gang is asked to investigate the coming to life of the statue of Fortius. The statue is causing massive destruction, declaring modern athletic games an abomination.
