Basic Information
Initially one of the Roughnecks' rookies, Juan "Johnny" Rico rose through the ranks rapidly after joining the Roughnecks. Johnny had an on-and-off relationship with fellow Roughneck Private Isabelle "Dizzy" Flores, which tended to take a back burner whenever he was around Fleet pilot Carmen Ibanez. Johnny succeeded Sergeant Francis Brutto as the squad's sergeant, then was given a field commission to full Lieutenant by General Redwing after Lieutenant Jean Razak was killed in action. His former boot camp instructor Sergeant Charlie Zim took over as his squad sergeant when he was promoted, and he had issues dealing with the fact that his former teacher was now a subordinate.
