Dr. K, portrayed by Olivia Tennet, is mentor to the R.P.M. Ranger Operators. She is similar to Ms. Fairweather from Lightspeed Rescue, in that she is a young woman who created everything in the Rangers arsenal. In her focus episode, young K was portrayed by Molly Standbridge.

Basic Information

As a young child, she was taken by the secret government think tank, Alphabet Soup. It was there that they brainwashed her with lies that she was allergic to the sun and assigned her the name K. While there, Alphabet Soup would have her come up with inventions that she couldn't possibly think of a practical use for -- like an extreme diarrhea inducing liquid placed in a person's drink. The main inventions, however, were the Ranger Operator suits and Zords. She had help with these after Alphabet Soup assigned her two assistants, Gem and Gemma. She initially found them revolting, but they soon became friends.

One day, when a butterfly found it's way into K's quarters, she followed it until the butterfly found an open window. It was then that K began realizing how corrupt Alphabet Soup was, introducing Gem and Gemma to Project Venjix. Anxious to get outside, she released it into Alphabet Soup's computer systems. Before she had time to install the firewall, soldiers busted in and took the three away, and Venjix spread beyond Alphabet Soup. It started taking over the world's communication, power and defense systems. Venjix built armies of advanced robotic soldiers that took out anything in their path. K was able to escape Alphabet Soup with the help of Gem and Gemma, who she presumed dead.

K made it to the domed city of Corinth where she joined up with Colonel Truman and her first three Ranger Operators, Scott, Flynn and Summer.

After a year had past, Venjix had grown stronger and they needed to activate Series Green and Black. Summer saw the perfect candidate for Series Black in Dillon, while Ziggy bonded with Series Green when trying to keep the morpher out of enemy hands -- much to K's chagrin. During this time, no one had ever seen K face-to-face. The two new Rangers had a problem with this and Dillon forced her to reveal herself.

After Venjix technology in Dillon's body began growing at a faster rate, K was forced to reveal her secrets to the Rangers. She had to admit that she created Venjix. Shortly afterward, the Rangers began chasing memories implanted into Dillon. They reported back to K of new Gold and Silver Zords before the feed cut out. Gold and Silver Rangers appeared, saved the others and took them back to Corinth. The original five Rangers lead Gold and Silver to meet K, revealing themselves as Gem and Gemma. K gave them a tearful hug, with a smile on her face. Something that the others had never seen her come close to doing.

Character History

  • Dr. K was kidnapped at age 5 by Alphabet Soup operatives in broad daylight while playing outside in the sidewalk with a friend she had made.
  • By age 14, Dr. K had been charged with both Project: Ranger (the code name assigned to the construction of the Ranger Series technology) and Project: Venjix.
  • Alphabet Soup operatives introduced Dr. K to Project; Ranger's test pilots: a pair of twins code named Gem and Gemma.
  • At age 15, Dr. K discovers, through direct exposure to sunlight, that her captives lied to her and her friends about their apparent allergy. She then planned to escape with the twins by wirelessly uploading the Venjix computer virus into Alphabet Soup's security servers, thus allowing them to escape. However, security guards captured them before she could install the firewall to contain Venjix to the compound. The virus would spread throughout the world's computer systems, bringing about the near total destruction of Earth.
  • At age 18, Dr. K sent out a video informing all survivors to head for the domed city of Corinth. Alphabet Soup operatives tried to assassinate her when she tried to flee the compound, but she escaped with help from Gem and Gemma. She then reached Corinth and presumably began establishing Project: Ranger with approval from Colonel Mason Truman. She then recruited Scott Truman, Flynn McAllistair, and Summer Landsdown, as the first three Ranger Series Operators (Red, Blue, and Yellow).
  • At age 19, Dr. K recruited a lone hybrid named Dillon as Ranger Operator Series Black. She also (grudgingly) accepted an ex-criminal named Ziggy Grover as Ranger Operator Series Green after bonding with the morpher to keep it away from Tenaya 7. Months later, she reunited with Gem and Gemma, who had become Ranger Operators Series Gold and Silver. She was also almost arrested by Colonel Truman when he discovered that she created and released Venjix. Eventually, he granted her a full pardon.
  • At age 20, Dr. K helped defeat Venjix after it, in bodily form, almost took control of Corinth.

Memorable Moments

Trivia

  • It is assumed that K is 18 years of age during the series, as her last birthday cake at Alphabet Soup had 14 candles. Adding in the fact that the Venjix attacks lasted three years and the premiere skipped ahead one more, it would make her at least that old. She is at least 19 or 20 by the episode "If Venjix Won" as she went outside of her lab with Ziggy during that episode.
  • K is the youngest mentor to date. The previous mentor to have this honor, Tommy, was in his mid-to-late twenties.
  • Due to the fact that prior to the final scene of episode five, K had just been a disembodied voice, it marks the first time in the history of the show that the opening credits featured a name without a picture.
