LostLost: Missing Pieces

The Envelope is the twelfth mobisode of Lost: Missing Pieces, and the twelfth mobisode overall.

Guest Stars: Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet Burke), Julie Adams (Amelia)

Synopsis

At the barracks, Juliet Burke is baking muffins for her Others' book club meeting when she accidentally burns her muffins and, in the rush to get them out of the oven, burns her hand. Amelia arrives and gets some ice for her burn. She thinks Juliet's mind is wandering because of Benjamin Linus and asks her if she invited him for the meeting. Juliet tells Amelia that things have gotten awkward between her and Ben. Amelia asks her if that means Ben finally told her how he felt, but Juliet replies that Ben didn't say anything; things just got complicated. Amelia doesn't buy Juliet's excuse, reminding her that "complicated" doesn't make a person cry. Pressed to tell what's wrong, Juliet tells her that she believes they're in big trouble. She wants to show something to Amelia, making her swear to not tell anyone. Amelia agrees, but the doorbell rings before Juliet can show the contents of a hidden envelope.

Trivia

  • The Envelope: The contents of the manila envelope are not revealed in the mobisode, but the contents are the X-rays of Ben's spine. In Juliet's flashback in "One of Us", Juliet is seen taking a manila envelope to Ben which contained the X-rays of his spine. That flashback was a day before the events of this mobisode.
  • Time Frame: This mobisode takes place in season three's "A Tale of Two Cities" opening flashback.
  • Deleted Scene: Although presented as a mobisode, this is in fact a deleted scene from "A Tale of Two Cities". Promotional photographs from the episode show Juliet and Amelia with the envelope.

Transcript

[Juliet burns her hand making muffins right before Amelia arrives]
Juliet: I’m fine. I’m really fine. I just- I need to clean up before everyone gets here. [Amelia gives her ice for her burn] Thank you.
Amelia: It’s him, isn’t it?
Juliet: What? Who?
Amelia: Ben. Did you invite him today?
Juliet: Things have gotten awkward.
Amelia: Finally told you how he felt, huh?
Juliet: He didn’t, he didn’t say anything. It’s just.. complicated, OK?
Amelia: "Complicated" doesn’t make you cry.
Juliet: I burned my hand.
Amelia: That doesn’t make you cry, either. What happened, Julie?
Juliet: I think... I think we’re in big trouble.
Amelia: Are we?
Juliet: I need to... If I show you something, do you promise not to tell anyone? Do you swear? [Amelia nods] Not anyone.
[Juliet retrieves an envelope hidden in a silverware drawer, but the doorbell rings before she can show its contents]
