KVRR is an American local station in Fargo/Grand Forks, North Dakota. Red River Broadcasting owns the station, which is a FOX affiliate operating on digital channel 19, displayed on tuners as virtual channel 15.
KVRR also operates three semi-satellite stations covering eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota - KJRR in Jamestown, North Dakota, KBRR in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and KNRR, which is licenced to Pembina, North Dakota but primarily serves audiences across the Canadian border in Winnipeg and southern Manitoba.
In a rare situation for an American television station (but which is more common for most Canadian stations), KVRR and its rebroadcasters identified on-air for years simply as FOX, without any kind of regional, channel number or call sign branding outside of station IDs required by the Federal Communications Commission. As a result, syndicated programming on KVRR was frequently misrepresented as being FOX network shows (even though most of those shows, outside of syndicated reruns of The Simpsons and King of the Hill, had never aired on FOX itself). This was remedied in March 2015 when the station phased out the FOX brand in favor of using the KVRR calls on-air and on its website, bringing it in line with other Fargo-area stations which have long used their call signs for station branding.
