KITV is the ABC affiliate in Honolulu, Hawaii. It broadcasts on digital channel 40. The station also operates satellites KMVI in Wailuku (on Maui) and KHVO in Hilo (on the Island of Hawaii). It is also the MeTV affiliate for Hawaii, carrying the network on its digital subchannel 4.2.
History
KITV began operations on May 16, 1954 as an ABC affiliate, first with the call letters KULA, then changing it to KHVH in 1964. KHVH changed calls to KITV in 1973. The station has been owned by SJL Broadcasting since 2015. It was acquired by Byron Allen’s AMG/Entertainment Studios in 2020. KIKU became it’s sister station in January 2022.
