Izzy is confused and angry when Alex is cold to her during their date. Meredith and Derek have to convince a Hmong elder to let his daughter undergo surgery for a tumor. When the lights go out in the hospital, George becomes a hero when he and Alex have to perform surgery on a wounded police officer in a stopped elevator. Christina has to improvise when her patient's pain "medication" is lost in the power failure. Richard is unsettled when Ellis recalls their long-ago affair. Christina makes a decision about her relationship with Dr. Burke, and Meredith tells Derek to choose between her and Addison once and for all.
