Plot Overview
Things couldn't be better/worse. The inn's test run is a success. Lorelai and Luke's fledgling romance takes wing. Emily and Richard's marriage is in shreds. Rory and Lorelai aren't talking after Rory's liaison with Dean.
Richard and Emily return home, still arguing. Emily decides to go to Europe for the summer.
When Lorelai returns to the inn, Luke is there with Kirk, who is still naked, now laying on the couch covered with a blanket. Kirk landed in Taylor's rose bushes and is now full of thorns. When Sookie comes down, Lorelai and Luke corner her and make her look at Kirk's butt. She needs supplied to fix him up so Lorelai goes to get those. Kirk in the mean time mumbles about seeing Luke and Lorelai kissing. At first Sookie doesn't believe him, saying that he must have imagined it, but then she sees Luke's face and she takes him aside. Luke still doesn't understand why Lorelai is so upset after she returned to the inn, not knowing about Lorelai's arguement with Rory, so asks Sookie to keep it a secret.
The next day while Taylor is having a shoe crisis, Luke has to leave and get back to the diner, so he doesn't have a chance to talk to Lorelai. Rory enters, making it clear she is making an obligatory appearance and the argument of the night before is not forgotten. Lorelai enters the kitchen and Sookie hugs her, confessing that Kirk told Sookie he saw Luke and Lorelai kissing.
Lorelai calls Luke at the diner and they talk, promising to talk more about it soon.
Rory calls Dean to talk about what happened. She meets him in Miss Patty's dance studio and ends up sleeping with him again. Next she visits Lane to talk about what happened and get some perspective.
Emily returns to the Dragonfly Inn for the promised lunch with Rory and Lorelai. Lorelai's efforts to explain that Emily left so she didn't expect there to be a lunch fall on deaf ears and Lorelai calls Rory to get her to come back to the inn. During lunch, Emily admits that she is separated from Richard, and that she is going to Europe for the summer and wants Rory to go with her. Rory accepts.
When Lorelai gets home from taking Rory and Emily to the airport, she finds messages on her answering machine from Luke. Liz and TJ were in a car accident and he is going to run their Renaissance Fair booth, so he'll be out of town for a while.
