  • Big Bad: The gang discovers many of the details about the Mayor's plan, including that he isn't human and is over 100 years old. What they don't figure out from the hall of records, Buffy lures out of Faith—namely that The Mayor built the town specifically so he could make his ascension/transformation on Graduation Day. While they play catch up, the Mayor and Faith move towards his endgame by tracking down the Books of Ascension.
  • Sunnydale: According to the Mayor, he personally founded the town for the express purpose of one day using and abusing the Hellmouth. If this is true, then Sunnydale is much like the Poltergeist house on a larger scalle—specifically built on the site of a burial ground (or, in this case, a hellmouth).

[edit] Characters

  • Faith: The fact that Faith has switched over to the Mayor's side becomes apparent to Buffy and the others.
