Season Six of Bleach premiered on January 10, 2007. The season, entitled "Arrancar: The Arrival," is the first part of the Arrancar storyline. This season was directly adapted from the manga, unlike the "Bount" story arcs, and picks up the story of Aizen's betrayal and ultimate plot.
Although the season largely returns to the original manga storyline, the final four episodes of the season begin a brief arc that is considered filler by fans. These episodes, which do not move the plot forward, follow Captain Hitsgaya and his squad of soul reapers in the world of the living, fighting monsters and protecting souls from low level Arrancar. The "filler" arc encompasses episodes 128-137.
The season initially aired from January 10, 2007 to June 27, 2007 in Japan on TV Tokyo. The episodes later began airing in English on Adult Swim beginning April 19, 2009 and will end on July 5, 2009.
