From The TV IV
Season Three of Bleach premiered on October 18, 2005. The season can be broken up into two partial storylines.
Episodes 1–10 finish the story started in the previous season, "Soul Society: The Rescue," in which Ichigo and his friends from the living world attempt to rescue Rukia from execution. At the point where this season begins, Ichigo has just mastered his bankai abilities after a great deal of training and must fight his way through captains to buy Rukia time. At the same time, the people pulling the strings behind the scenes of the soul society make themselves known and attempt to execute their final plan.
