Plot Overview

Because of their perceived betrayal, Captains Ukitake and Kyouraku must face their very angry general and his unsealed sword. Across the city, Captain Zaraki can sense that General Yamamoto-Genryūsai is now fighting someone with unrestrained power. His meditation is interrupted briefly by Yumichika, who just won his battle against Hisagi by stealing his spirit energy, but even he can see that the general has activated his flaming sword.

Back at the battle, the general goads the two captains into releasing their own swords, as he will not hold back if they are unarmed. They both unseal their swords, which both happen to exist in the form of dual swords. They start the fight, but the outcomes isn't visible due to the debris that's kicked up from the initial explosion.

Meanwhile, Jidanbou has finally healed completely from the damage he sustained from Ichimaru's attack. He's joined outside the gate by Kukaku Shiba, who has made a rare journey outside of her home on the outskirts of the soul society. She tells Jidanbou that she has business with Yoruichi and would like his company with her. However, whatever business that may be will have to wait, as Yoruichi and Soi Fong are locked in battle in the dense forest of the soul society.

Soi Fong mocks Yoruichi for not having advanced her skills and, worse yet, for aiding Ichigo in the treachery which culminated in the destruction of the soul society's main method of execution. She alludes to the fall of the Shiba clan when she tells Yoruichi that when word of her betrayal gets out, it'll mean the destruction of one of the four great families of the soul society. Yoruichi, however, isn't interested in her words. After some more words, Soi Fong summons a large squad of ninjas under her purview as special forces commander. But, the ninjas don't help and Yoruichi does away with them in a flash. Yoruichi reminds Soi Fong that although she is no longer commander, she does retain her "Goddess of Flash" title. Soi Fong informs her that she plans to succeed her in that title too. The battle ensues and Soi Fong briefly gets the upper hand with her unsealed sword. The one attack manages to land a blossom shaped symbol on her chest, which is half of a two-part death stroke imparted by her sword.

Soi Fong lands several more blows in different parts of her body and informs her that the blossoms will only disappear when she wills them to do so. Another blow is landed on Yoruichi's face and Soi Fong shows off a new technique that she claims to have invented and perfected just a day before. She expect Yoruichi to be impressed by this nameless technique, but instead she discovers that Yoruichi can do the same thing, which she calls "Flashcry." Yoruichi warns her that she can't completely control the attack either and there's an explosion of light shown from a distance.
