Five by Five is the eighteenth episode of the first season of Angel, and the eighteenth episode overall. Faith arrives in Los Angeles after fleeing from Sunnydale.

• Wolfram & Hart: Angel once again thwarts Wolfram & Hart when he convences a gang member to testify against one of Wolfram's clients, despite the firm's attempts to snuff out Marquez's friends. They hire Faith to kill Angel for them.

• Angel: The gypsy that Angel killed which ultimately caused the curse put on his head was a gift from Darla. So, in essence, Darla is the reason why Angel's soul was returned to him. Once she learnt of this, she cast him out into the streets.

• BtVS - 3x22 - Graduation Day: Faith spent part of season four of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in a coma caused by her injuries from being stabbed by Buffy.

Angel: I thought she was in a coma.

• BtVS - 3x15 - Consequences: Angel clubbed Faith over the head and brought her back to his home in Sunnydale where he attempted to reason with her and bring her back to the side of sanity. He was making good progress when Wesley and others burst in, ensnared Angel and beat him while freeing Faith. They attempted to cart her off to England, but she escaped from them.

Angel: I was pulling her back from the brink when some British guy kidnapped her and made damn sure she'd never trust a living soul.

• 1x01 - City Of: Angel tossed Russell Winters out a window after he killed his first client. Russell, of course, was a vampire. So, the direct sunlight dusted his body before he hit the ground.

• First Appearance: This episode marks the first appearance of Faith in the series. She is the fourth character to crossover to Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she last appeared in Who Are You?, an episode in which Faith and Buffy switched bodies.

• Ratings: On its first airing, this episode scored a 4.9/8 in the overnight Nielsen ratings. It was ranked 3rd out of the 15 WB shows which aired that week.

• Five By Five: The title of the episode is taken from a radio operator terminology meaning that the incoming transmission's signal is the strongest and clearest possible. It later transformed into a way of saying "everything is okay." The term is now antiquated and rarely used in the modern era, but Faith has used it as something of a catchphrase in her previous appearances on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

• As Angel and Faith fight in the rain, Wesley races down the stairs with a knife to kill Faith once and for all. When he arrives on the street, he finds Faith crying, demanding that Angel kill her. He drops his knife and the credits roll.
