Plot Overview

Æon, on an assassination mission, misses her chance for a sniper kill after the mark turns the lights out. This forces her to infiltrate the man's home through underground tunnels. As she's climbing down, however, she is spotted by a security camera. She attempts to leap off of the ladder but slips and falls. Oops.

Æon finally sees the camera and quickly flees from it. While walking in down the hallway, she finds the security room, unmanned and unoperated with the exception of a tape recorder and a monitor showing what was on the security camera. Æon pops open the recorder and prepares to destroy the tape but, at the last minute decides to review the tape. She finds that the recorder's input is glitchy and the air vent blowing it is causing the feed to break. She attempts to rectify this and spills coffee on herself and the connector between the monitor and the recorder. She leaves to find a bathroom, but as she's leaving the monitor shows a person climbing down the ladder.

After washing up, she catches a glimpse of herself in the monitor, indicating that the man who entered via the ladder must have come in before she did. She hears gunshots and climbs through the window of her mark to find that he is dead. As she starts to escape, she's shot through the neck by the other intruder. Desperate to find out who killed her, Æon shoots the thermostat, stopping the air and letting the video control settle. It's revealed on the monitor that this was Trevor Goodchild.

Notes

Characters

  • Æon: Æon is killed when she is shot by Trevor Goodchild. This is the only time in the series where Æon is killed directly by Trevor. However, at this point, they hadn't established the love/hate relationship between the two.

Trivia

The Show

  • The Point: The purpose behind this episode was to tell the story in four minutes using only one character, minus the silhouette of the mark at the beginning and the shot of Trevor at the end. Peter Chung wanted to see if he could create conflict without another person actually being there. The conflict here is the battle between her focus on the main mission and what's happening in the here and now.

Behind the Scenes

  • Time: This short is four minutes and six seconds long.
  • Original Title: This episode was originally entitled "Night" but was changed for the DVD collections.
