Plot Overview

Æon enters some kind of kitchen/laboratory and finds a man locked inside a cabinet where he's eating some mysterious food. She finds that he's eaten all of it and decides to go out for more, as if she were going to the grocery store. On the way, she makes a run through an acrobatics obstacle course.

Later on, Æon finds herself at an alien spaceship, where she steals several eggs from what appears to be an incubator. She drops one of the eggs and examines the contents with a microscope and uses a mechanical claw function to pull at a living alien embryo. Satisfied with her findings, Æon exits the way that she came in and comes face-to-face with the parental unit of the small alien. Æon attempts to distract it by threatening one of its eggs, but before she can escape, the alien activates a defense system that looks a great deal like Æon's obstacle course. Naturally, she easily traverses the bars, but the alien moves more quickly. It leaps at her and, presumably, devours her.

Notes

Characters

  • Æon: Æon is killed when she is captured and eaten by the alien creature.

Trivia

The Show

  • The Point: This episode is meant to show Æon's normal domestic life. It's a glimpse into her everyday life.
  • Costume Design: This episode marks the first time that we see Æon in her revamped outfit, which would become her costume in the main series.
  • Dialogue: This is the only time in any of the Æon Flux shorts where any dialogue is uttered. It's a single word spoken by Peter Chung's wife, "Plop."

Behind the Scenes

  • Time: This short is three minutes long.
  • Sound: The sound that the tiny alien makes while Æon is toying with it is squirrel noises played backwards. The larger alien is a pitched down version of the same sound. Some of the angrier noises that it makes are an amalgamation of various large cats like cougars, cheetahs and tigers, which were all recorded at Shambala Preserve.
