Plot Overview
Kate Martinez and her husband, Adam from Colorado run their own martial arts studio. With his parents busy with their business, Kate's 10-year-old stepson, Alex is left to fend for himself. Kate also gives a lot of affection to her pet cockatoo, Maki.
Kate swaps lives with Roxie Figaratto from Maine. Roxie, her husband, Ron and their three children: 17-year-old Megan, 13-year-old Katie and 9-year-old Christian enjoy karaoke, having karaoke parties in their basement. Roxie runs an internet karaoke business from her basement, but she puts work aside when her kids come home. She goes to several different fast food restaurants to feed her family and Christian refuses to brush his teeth, brush his hair or eat food without being supervised.
