Plot Overview
Christina Gillette from Massachusetts and her husband, Arthur run their own traveling carnival, traveling eight months a year. While Christina and Arthur work, they allow their three children: 10-year-old Jane, 8-year-old Libby and 4-year-old Kenny to roam around the carnival by themselves. The kids also feel that Arthur doesn't spend a lot of time with them due to work.
Christina swaps lives with Karen Turner from New York. Karen and her husband, Tom expect their two daughters: 14-year-old Paige and 11-year-old Grace to be responsible and productive members of society. The girls' schedule is filled with homework, chores and extracurricular activities which leaves Paige feeling exhausted.
