WTMJ-TV is the call sign for the NBC affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It broadcasts on digital channel 28, displayed as virtual channel 4.
WTMJ signed on in 1947 as Wisconsin's first television station and was the television counterpart to WTMJ radio and the Milwaukee Journal newspaper. Originally operating on channel 3, WTMJ moved to channel 4 in 1952. It has been a NBC affiliate since its sign-on, even after losing ABC to WOKY and CBS to WCAN, both in 1953. It was also the flagship station of Journal Communications until 2015, when the television and radio stations were merged into Scripps, while the newspaper division became part of Journal.
