Plot Overview
Notes
Mystery of the Week
- The Goodman Stalker: Although Woody claimed that his gardener was the person behind the video tape of his family, Veronica discovers that it could only have been Lucky, the school janitor. She connects him with the letterman jacket and the red pickup truck. He wanted to scare Woody for some reason that goes beyond his policies, but doesn't get to tell Keith what Woody "really is." He was bailed out by Meg's father.
The Lilly Kane Murder
- The man who paid a hooker to steal Cliff's briefcase (which had a great deal of the Aaron Echolls murder details in it) was probably Aaron's (as yet unnamed) cellmate in prison.
Arc Advancement
Happenings
- Incorporation: The vote for incorporating the 09er district of Neptune into its own city, also known as Special Ballot Measure #51, was held in this episode. It failed by a three-point margin.
Characters
- Leo: The former police deputy now works for a private security firm.
- Veronica: Veronica has chlamydia! Which she presumably got from Duncan, who presumably got it from Kendall. Which also means that Logan most likely has it, and Richard Casablancas, Sr.
- Woody: Woody is getting shadier and shadier by the day. After getting a campaign staffer drunk to the point of alcohol poisoning, Woody calls up Keith to bring a passed out woman to the hospital, then tells reporters that he caught Keith getting her drunk.
- Terrence: Terrence's story was let out to the press after all. It seems that the journalism teacher's parents found her manuscript and let it leak after all.
Referbacks
- 2x16 - The Rapes of Graff: Madison carried on an affair with Sheriff Lamb, which came to light while Keith and Cliff were trying to figure out who robbed him.
- Veronica: I heard the law comes down hard.

Behind the Scenes
Allusions and References
- Can't Get You Out of My Head: Gia says that she was singing Can't Get You Out of My Head, a dance-pop song by Kylie Minogue. The song was Minogue's first single off her 2001 album, Fever, and was her biggest hit.
- Mission: Impossible: Gia makes a reference to the Mission: Impossible movie remake starring Tom Cruise from 1996. There was a scene in which he descended from the ceiling on wires to get information off a computer. Veronica makes a reference to his unusual marriage to Katie Holmes when she says "I hope he won't try to marry me."
- Gia: Wow, how Mission Impossible.
- Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel: Cletus is a character from The Simpsons that appears randomly in episodes. Cletus is a stereotypical white trash person who's missing teeth and speaks with a slurred southern drawl.
- Wallace: You mean how when I put on a tux, I make James Bond look like Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel?
- The Fountains of Paradise: Originally envisioned by Russian engineer Yuri N. Artsutanov, the idea of a space elevator was for the first time widely popularized through Arthur C. Clarke's novel The Fountains of Paradise (1979). It has since featured in numerous pieces of fiction. Note that an actual space elevator would extend from geostationary orbit and thus be approximately 22,000 miles long, rather than the 100 miles Butters mentions.
- Butters: Wait for the Space Elevator.
Memorable Moments
Quotes
- Veronica: So my Grandma Reynolds was always saying, when life gives you lemons make lemonade. I wish she was still alive, because I'd really like to ask what she suggests for when life gives you chlamydia.
- Principal Clemmons (on the PA): Attention, students. Due to a significant number of alcohol violations on the senior trip, this year's prom has been canceled. That is all.
- Mac: Yes! Prayer works!
- Veronica: Have taser, will travel.
