Plot Overview

Everyone is shocked to find out that Oruha is the I-1 oni. Fai asks Sakura if she came to the café, and Sakura says yes, but she thought it was a dream. The power of the feather flares, and more pieces of Ōto begin to appear in the real world. Ryuoh and the other oni hunters decide to try and help, but when they rush forward, they are blocked by the various staff characters of Ōto.

Kurogane asks Syaoran what he wants to do. Syaoran says he wants to get the feather, and rushes forward.

Oruha tells Seishiro that if he wanted to meet her so badly, he should have joined the game as an oni hunter and worked his way up. He would have fought her eventually, since she is the end boss. He said that would take too long.

Everyone else is fighting off oni, while Syaoran is climbing the framework of the roller-coaster, trying to get to Seishiro. The group wants to join him, but Kurogane tells them to hold back.

Oruha tells Seishiro she used him to mislead the oni slayers who came by - meaning Fai and Kurogane. Instead of revealing her identity, she was able to misdirect them to the mysterious person controlling the oni. Kurogane doesn't understand why she would do that, so Chitose explains that the Non-Player Characters in the game (like the receptionist at City Hall) were designed to leak information. Kurogane recalls Syaoran mentioning something about that.

Seishiro asks Oruha if she has a player, and she says she does. He asks if she can grant eternal life, and she says yes. He asks if her real name is Subaru, and she says no. Fai asks Chitose what the eternal life thing means, and Chitose says that a player who beats the I-1 oni will be granted infinite life in the game. Seishiro asks Oruha if she knows anything about a pair of vampire twins. She doesn't, so he says he should leave, then. She asks him to restore everything to normal, and he says it will revert on its own, but the oni will stay. Oruha says they are nearly impossible to kill in the real world. Seishiro says it won't be a problem, because "he" is here - meaning Syaoran, who has just appeared behind Seishiro on top of the roller-coaster.

Syaoran demands the feather back. Seishiro points out it isn't his, but Syaoran replies that it belongs to someone important to him, someone who needs it back. Seishiro asks if Syaoran is going to fight him. Syaoran admits he can't beat Seishiro, but he will certainly try. He says he can't control the sword, but without it, he has no chance of winning. He draws the sword, which is enveloped in flame. Syaoran strikes at Seishiro, but misses. Seishiro says that Syaoran will grow stronger with time. He activates the power in his eye, and starts to disappear. He says that they will meet again, as long as he has the feather. Syaoran leaps in to try and grab it, but it's gone before he gets there.

Mokona says that it can still feel the power, even though the feather is gone. Oruha explains that a small bit of its power stayed behind, and it's energizing the oni. Syaoran decides to fight them, and so does everyone else. Chitose tells them that this isn't a game, they could all die. Kurogane points out that when they played the game, they thought it was real, that they were putting their lives on the line. Oruha realizes that they must risk their lives now. She asks all of them to stop the oni.

Oruha grabs Sakura, to take her out of harm's way. She explains that the power of the feather is the same as that within Sakura, which is why she came to visit the cafe that day. She says that when she had Sakura sing, she saw that Sakura's dreams were filled with memories of Syaoran. Even without the power, Sakura has her friendships. The oni hunters think about the time they spent together, the friends they made. Though it was virtual, the time spent was real.

After they defeat the oni, they gather in one spot, and Mokona floats up in the air toward the energy. Fai says it's drawn to the energy because it came from the Dimensional Witch, and that it's probably time to go now. Syaoran and Sakura finally tell Ryuoh and Yuzuriha their real names, just before they disappear with Mokona.

Fei Wang Reed is watching. He notes that they didn't get the feather this time, though that the feather was located leaves him satisifed. The black-haired girl with him says its her turn to participate.

Notes

Locations

  • Ōto/Edonis: The two worlds are merging together.

Character History

  • All of the Non-Player Characters (NPCs) in Ōto that are references to other CLAMP works are actually "non-people" in those works. The greeters from 1x17 are Minoru's persocoms (androids) from Chobits; the receptionist at City Hall was Kaede's angel (a doll controlled by thoughts) from Angelic Layer; the tower attendants are the laptop persocoms from Chobits. The only exception is Caldina, a real person from Magic Knight Rayearth, who may or may not be an NPC in Ōto.

Arc Advancement

Happenings

  • Seishiro talks to Oruha, but she isn't the person he was looking for, so he leaves - with Sakura's feather.

Characters

  • Ryuoh and Yuzuriha learn Syaoran and Sakura's real names.
  • They find Sakura's feather, but do not get it back. This is their first failure.
