Tsubasa Chronicle — Season One

The Mirror of Separation is the tenth episode of the first season of Tsubasa Chronicle, and the tenth episode overall. Syaoran ventures deeper into the Ryoshi's castle, while Chun'yan learns something about herself.

Plot Overview

Syaoran fights the Ryoshi's son, while Sorata leads the townspeople into the castle, telling Arashi to wait outside. Chun'yan would like to join them, but Sakura takes her somewhere else. Chun'yan remarks to herself that Sakura reminds her of her own mother.

The Ryoshi's son is much stronger than Syaoran because of his father's magic, so Syaoran has trouble fighting him. Meanwhile, Fai and Kurogane are still fighting Kishi. She remarks how the last person to really challenge her was a female magician from the town - Chun'yan's mother. Kishi says she respects all of them, but has no choice but to kill them all, since she is enslaved by the Ryoshi. Kurogane and Fai say they don't intend to die. Kurogane mentions he wants to find the feather because Mokona will not transport anyone until they find it and he wants to go home, while Fai says he wants to find it because he doesn't want to stay in one place too long since he fears being caught by the person sleeping under the water back home. They make one last desperate strike at Kishi, with Fai providing a feint while Kurogane actually strikes her.

The Ryoshi's son grabs Mokona, but Syaoran attacks him so he grabs Syaoran by the leg instead, noticing that it was injured in the battle with Kishi. Syaoran remarks he doesn't care how badly it hurts, and spin-kicks the son with his other leg, knocking him out.

Though it looks like Kishi has a killing blow on Kurogane, his armor protects him and he crushes the jewel on her head. Defeated, she kisses him on the cheek. He accuses her of casting a spell, but she explains that the jewel was actually keeping her prisoner there. She tells them that they are free to take on the lord.

Sorata and a few other townspeople arrive where the Ryoshi is, who uses his magic on them.

Sakura and Chun'yan are standing on a bridge, and Sakura is talking about how the town used to be. Chun'yan is confused, since Sakura just arrived there. She realizes that it's actually her mother talking through Sakura. When Chun'yan asks how this could be, the mother replies it has to do with the Ryoshi sealing her soul inside the castle. She had to wait for the beloved daughter of God to come set her free.

The mother takes Chun'yan to the tree she brought to life in the flashback, and makes one branch bloom again. She tells Chun'yan to do the same, but Chun'yan cannot. When she asks why, the mother tells her to remember what she was taught. Chun'yan realizes that she thinks of nothing but destroying the Ryoshi, when her power only comes from bringing happiness to others. When she admits this and tries the spell again, she makes the tree bloom. Her mother gives her a magical mirror to use and then leaves Sakura's body, floating away into the air.

The bewitched Sorata arrives, and at first Chun'yan doesn't realize what's up. When he says he has orders from the lord, she stands in front of Sakura.

Mokona leads Syaoran to the source of power in the castle, but when they go through the door, they see Sakura and Chun'yan unconscious in a glass bubble. The Ryoshi is there, with the feather in an orb. Syaoran threatens him, but the Ryoshi is not intimidated. He will kill the girls if Syaoran touches him. The enchanted townspeople rush in, and surround Syaoran.
