Shadowman 9: In the Cradle of Destiny is the first episode of the third season of The Venture Bros., and the twenty-ninth episode overall. The Guild of Calamitous Intent kidnap The Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend from their escape cocoon in order to question them in a combination tribunal/trial/crucible about The Monarch's beginnings and their shared relationship with Phantom Limb.

• Opening: Much like how the season premiere for season two's premiere were altered due to the absence of Hank and Dean Venture, this season premiere's credits were also changed. Instead of Hank and Dean (or last season's Rusty and Jonas Jr.), The Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend are shown instead with appearances by Henchmen 21 and 24.
