In the Year 3000 is a recurring sketch on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. It is an update on the Late Night with Conan O'Brien sketch "In the Year 2000", which was essentially the same sketch with different props and a different number. In each instance, Andy Richter and Conan O'Brien make comedic predictions about what will happen in the distant future.

Basic Information
The sketch originally began on Late Night in one of its early seasons. The basic format of the sketch was the same in each instance, O'Brien would lead with "I think it's time, once again, to look into the future" and Richter would respond, "The future, Conan?" Conan would then answer, "That's right, Andy. Let's look to the future, all the way to the year 2000!" The camera would cut to La Bamba wearing a vaguely futuristic smock, singing "In the Year 2000" in a high falsetto. Conan and Andy, also wearing smocks, would make alternating pop culture jokes about the future, with La Bamba singing in between each. After Richter left the series in 2000, his role was taken by a variety of guest celebrities until the series ended in 2009.
On the third episode of The Tonight Show, the sketch was brought back, initially starting the same way and with the same costumes as on Late Night. Richter interrupted, saying that it's ridiculous to keep saying the year 2000 is the future, even though that's exactly what O'Brien had done for the previous 9 years. To "update" the sketch, O'Brien changed the name to "In the Year 3000" and slightly better looking smocks descended from the ceiling for O'Brien, Richter and La Bamba to wear. The rest of the sketch is the same.
