The TV IV:Proposals/Unexplainable Blocking
Maybe there is a real reason why these people have been blocked, I just want to know. I understand getting blocked for spamming and things like that but several people seem to have been blocked just because one of the administrators (or others) don't like them. Anyone reading this should check out the block page. Notice how some people get blocked for weird reasons?-Sportman 18:31 22 Nov 2006
- If the person has been blocked, but not for vandalism or spamming, the reason is usually evident from their contributions. The only case where this may not be as obvious is MateoP, which was discussed at length by the administrators before he was blocked. Ultimately, it was decided that he did more to impede the progress of the Wiki than he did to aid in its growth. His additions to the wiki were poorly thought out and fraught with grammatical and formatting errors, which wouldn't be such a problem if it weren't for the fact that he did everything he could to argue with administrators even when he didn't have a valid point. --IndieRockLance 19:21, 22 November 2006 (EST)
Still, under the reasons why people got blocked it sometime says something like "for being a pain in the a**" or "being a ****" and many other reasons like that. Do you consider that understandable?-Sportman 23:18 22 Nov 2006
- I just looked at the block list. Both Ts.enigma and FINKLE were banned because they were spamming. You can check it out for yourself by clicking on their username, and, on their userpage, clicking on "User contributions" on the lower left sidebar. Hope that clears things up; I can assure you that we don't ban people for unexplainable reasons. --Wizardryo\talk 01:29, 23 November 2006 (EST)
I understand now why those people were blocked, but why such language?--Sportman 13:28, 10 December 2006 (EST)
It just seems a little unprofessional. That's all.--Sportman 22:38, 10 December 2006 (EST)
- We're not getting paid. We're not professional. We're human. Sometimes, we administrators need to blow off steam just as much as anyone else. Plus, MateoP was a douche, and the people being called a "pain in the ass" or whatever really were douches or pains in the ass. -- JCaesartalk 06:42, 11 December 2006 (EST)
