The Soup is a variety program that airs on E! For its first four episodes it was known as What The...? Awards. It then tweaked its format to be similar to a previous E! show, Talk Soup, and renamed to reflect this.
Host Joel McHale shows clips of the best/worst pop culture items of the week, mostly from TV shows. He adds his own commentary on the clips when he introduces them. There are recurring segments, including Chat Stew (clips from talk shows), Reality Show Clip Time and The Clip of the Week. Some of the humor in the show comes from making random references to previous clips that were considered humorous.
