Plot Overview
Homer is watching a favorite PBS Show when it is interupted by Host Betty White ,and a friend who want the viewers to call in a pledge to save the PBS Network.Homer becomes impatient when the Hosts are delaying in bring back his show for continuing begging for donations.But when the Hosts says that they are &10,000 away from returning to the Show,Homer telephones in the Pledge,and not leaving his name which is what he intentionally meant to do.However,the Network is able to trace Homer(thanks to his subscribing to Instagram).Homer is now in a dilemma.The PBS Network,and some of their cast of Characters converge at Homer's House.In afew minutes he would admit to Betty White that he does not have the donation,and that it was a lie.At first it looks like she forgives his lie,but then Betty tells the casts members from PBS...GET HIM.Homer runs from the angry PBS Casts,and takes refuge in the Church.He begs Lovejoy to hide him.Lovejoy agrees to help Homer if he is willing to go on a trip out of the Country.Homer agrees.After sneaking Homer pass the angry PBS Mob,he straps Homer in an Airplane which is headed to Africa,where Homer will be helping the people there.At first Homer is bored there,but when he learns from Marge (he can communicate with her on a two-way Ham Radio)that the whole Town is proud of him being a Humanitarian,and that Ned Flanders is envious,he feels proud,and set out to do good for his fellow Humans.His attempts to bring his own brand of Civilization proves disasterous.His attempts at settings things right proves even more disasterous.But,good things get back to normal after Homer leaves,and returns to Springfield.While Homer is attempting to adjust in Africa,Bart attempts to become the Man of the House,working at Homers place at the Nuclear Power Plant,and promising to take Marge out to Dinner.Lateron after Homer returns Home,Bart watching Homer's antics on PBS calls the Station to make his pledge for the same reason Homer had called,not to have his Program interupted.
Notes
There are some familiar faces at the PBS Station manning the telephones for Donations.Before Bart calls in his phony Pledge,we see Mulder,and Scully from "The X-Files".Hank Hill from "King of the Hill",Thurgood from "The PJ'S",and Bender from "Futurama" who are among the volunteers taking calls.
