Plot Overview

The episode begins with Bart's class going on a field trip, to the Nuclear Power Plant. After a spectacular educational film starring Smilin' Joe Fission the class beings the actual tour. Bart sees his dad working, but the distraction causes Homer to crash his kart into an exhaust vent, he is fired immediately.

After a brief pep-talk from his family Homer goes out job hunting. He is unsuccessful, so he heads to Moe, who just ends up making him feel worse. After a few days of moping around, and smashing Bart's piggy bank, Homer heads off to commit suicide. His family follows, trying to stop him.

While trying to save Homer his family is almost run-down in an busy intersection. Homer vows to not rest until a stop sign is place at the intersection.

Once the sign is placed Homer goes on a crusade to make Springfield the safest city in in the state. He decides to take on Mr. Burns] and the evils of the Springfield Power Plant.

Mr. Burns offers to take Homer back as an employee, with a nice fat promotion. Homer manages to take the job, and still remain true to all the people who believe in him.
