Bart Simpson is the 10 year-old son of Homer and Marge Simpson on The Simpsons, voiced by Nancy Cartwright. Bart is the trouble making, rebellious son of the Simpson family, as evidenced by being the focus of the "blackboard gag" which appears at the beginning of every episode. Bart has routinely been shown as a bad student, but mainly because of the typical reason of being unfocused and unmotivated rather than simply being dumb. Although, like his father, he does gradually take on a dumber persona over the years.
