Plot Overview

Beth winds up in jail on a contempt of court charge and later winds up in the prison hospital from cyanide poisoning, leaving Rockford to sort out a mess involving her client, who's facing a tax evasion charge, an envelope that was stolen from her safe and mobsters involved with a union's pension fund.

• On Rockford's answering machine: Mrs. Miller from the Book Club, telling him that the detective book he wanted is out of stock, so they're sending him Cooking Made Easy instead.

• In-joke: During a car chase with a couple of goons, Rockford pulls into Cooper's Scrap Metal. The episode is directed by Jackie Cooper!
