The Pretenders is an English punk rock band founded in London, England. They are best known for their albums The Pretenders (1980) and Pretenders II (1981), which include such hit singles as "Brass in Pocket (I'm Special)" and "Talk of the Town." Although their membership has changed over the years, two members have remained mostly constant:

  • Chrissie Hynde (songwriter, vocalist, guitarist 1978-present)
  • Martin Chambers (drummer 1978-1985 and 1993-present)
