This episode followed directly from the events of Stargate SG-1's Season 7 finale, Lost City (2).

The new formed Stargate Atlantis team travels to the Ancient city of Atlantis in the Pegasus Galaxy and discovers a rather primitive human culture that is periodically attacked by a yet unknown alien race called Wraith.
