Notes

Music

  • Vacation, by The Go-Go's: The song that plays while J.D. and Turk are driving away from the hospital is "Vacation" by The Go-Go's, the first track from their 1982 album of the same name. It was one of the band's most successful songs and helped define them as a cornerstone of 1980s new-wave pop.
  • Human, by Jon McLaughlin: At the end of the episode, during the montage of J.D. leaving Kim at the convention and Elliot trying to cope with whether or not she really loves Keith, the song that plays is "Human" by Jon McLaughlin. The song appears on Indiana, McLaughlin's debut album that was released nine days before this episode aired, but it could also be found on an EP released several months earlier called Industry.

Allusions and References

  • Basic Instinct 2: The movie which J.D. buys tickets to is Basic Instinct 2, the sequel to Basic Instinct starring Sharon Stone in the same role as the previous film. It was widely considered to be one of the worst movies released in 2006, even managing to garner four out of the seven Razzies it was nominated for, including "Worst Picture." The scene which Turk refers to is from the first movie, where Stone uncrossed her legs during an interrogation and showed that she wasn't wearing underwear. Despite this scene apparently not being in the movie, it did feature gratuitous sex scenes which nearly caused it to get a NC-17 rating.
Turk: She didn't even show her va-jay-jay.
  • Young MC: Marvin Young, otherwise known as Young MC, is a rapper who help popularize hip-hop in the mainstream when his song "Bust a Move" won the first ever Grammy for "Best Rap Recording." Young MC, however, quickly faded into obscurity when the early 1990s hip-hop scene began to shift towards gangsta rap and away from the pop rap which he built his fame on.
