Rude Dog and the Dweebs is an animated comedy that aired Saturday mornings on CBS.
Rude Dog, the cubist-designed canine from a line of kids' sports clothing, gets his own series as the owner of a delivery service. He has taken a passel of canines, dubbed "the Dweebs", under his watch after busting them loose from the wagon of dogcatcher Herman and his imbecile dog Rot. Rude Dog tries to teach the Dweebs some "rude," in an attempt to shake them from their bland ideals as well as protect them from Herman, Rot, and the bullying wiseguy cat Seymour.
After the first run of the show's 13 episodes, CBS yanked Rude Dog and the Dweebs and replaced it with repeats of Dungeons and Dragons. CBS brought the series back in June 1990 to complete its Saturday morning run. The show's apparent cancellation was believed to be due to Rude Dog's resemblance to Spuds MacKenzie, the so-called "original party animal" used in Budweiser commercials.
