[edit] Behind the Scenes

  • Location: Sandy's apartment building is the exact same building where Elliott Gould lived in The Long Goodbye, directed by Robert Altman. In the film, Gould played Phillip Marlowe, a private detective who becomes wrapped up in proving that his friend didn't kill his wife. Marlowe is referenced by name in Raines' opening monologue, which is interesting because he also says that the scenes from detective movies don't cross over into his reality.

  • Gardener: Hey. Who're you talking to?
Raines: The dead. They hunger for human brains—the feasting will begin at sundown.
    Charlie: Jerk.
    Raines: I know.
