Once Upon a Time/Creatures
A large part of Once Upon a Time takes place in the Enchanted Forest - a magical world where many other creatures besides humans exist, including dwarves, fairies, giants, ogres, trolls and many more. This page lists all the creatures that have appeared on the show as well as an episode count of each creature.

Dwarves
Dwarves are a humanoid species that are native to the Enchanted Forest. Dwarves hatch from eggs, although it is a mystery how they come into existence, as there are no female dwarves and all the dwarves that hatch from eggs are male.
When they hatch, dwarves are already in their adult form, and do not hatch as babies. A dwarf's life purpose is to work, specifically in the underground mines of the Enchanted Forest, where they dig for diamonds, which are then crushed into a powdered form and supplied to fairies who turn it into magical fairy dust.
Upon hatching, each dwarf is supplied with a pick axe, which generates a name for the dwarf. Dwarves spend their entire lives working, they do not fall in love or start families, and the only relationships they have are with their dwarf brothers who hatched from the same nest of eggs.
