Ari Haswari was a triple agent: an operative of the terrorist group Hamas posing as a Mossad agent posing as a Hamas operative. Ari severely wounded Ducky's first assistant, Gerald, while he was still believed by NCIS to be a Hamas agent, and was subsequently severely wounded by Agent Gibbs after revealing his apparent true nature as a Mossad infiltrator. He pulled the wool over almost everybody's eyes until he finally gave up his Mossad cover and began a campaign to kill Gibbs for Hamas. He failed to kill Gibbs, but did manage to kill one of Gibbs' agents, Kate Todd. He made one final attempt to kill Gibbs in Gibbs' basement, but was shot by Mossad agent Ziva David, his former Mossad controller and half-sister.
