Fake Station Symbol - The Door

A fake station, nicknamed The Door, is located at a small village on the other side of the island from the Oceanic mid-section camp. This "station" was discovered by Michael in a flashback in Three Minutes.

Purpose

The purpose of the Door and its accompanying village is unknown. The village was populated by Others in ragged clothing, and the Door was guarded by two armed men twenty-four hours a day. However, when Sayid reconnoitered the village he discovered it completely abandoned. Investigating the Door, he discovered nothing behind the doors but the face of the cliff it is built into.

The Station

The "entrance" to the Door.

The Door is located along a beach and a river, and is built into a cliff face. Perched atop the cliff is a formation of rocks with a hole in the middle. Michael claimed to have seen the Others guarding the entrance to their station twenty-four hours a day in shifts of two men with rifles. But the only thing behind the doors is a rock wall. Surrounding the Door is a small village belonging to the Others.

Village

The Others' "village."

The Others' village consists of mainly yurts — portable felt dwelling structures. There were also drying racks for fish and nets for fishing. The village was populated by a fairly large group of Others when Michael was captured and brought there. However, the village was found abandoned after Michael was let go by the Others.

Walt was supposedly held captive by the Others at the village, telling his father over the Swan's computer that he saw a rock formation with a hole in the middle when he was brought outside. The rock formation is present at the Door, and Walt was eventually brought to see Michael when Michael was kept at the village, but there is no indication that the Others currently occupy that area.

Theories and Speculation

  • The Door is merely an elaborate illusion, similar to the Others wearing ragged clothing and theatrical props like fake beards.
