Legally Mad is a legal drama set in a Chicago lawfirm that at one point was to be aired on NBC. The series was created by David E. Kelley, who has been at the head of popular legal dramas like Ally McBeal and Boston Legal. While initial reports were that NBC had made a blind commitment to the series it in fact was ordered as a put pilot with a huge financial penalty if NBC did not order the series. However NBC managed to negotiate with the studio, Warner Bros., to avoid the penalty (possibly in exchange for ordering another season of Chuck) and the network officially passed on the show on May 12, 2009. There are no plans to shop the pilot to other networks.
