Drama is a catch-all term for any scripted television show which is more serious in tone than a comedy. Compared to 30-minute sitcoms, dramas tend to be one-hour long, although many dramas combine elements of humorous content and serious content and are more typically referred to as dramedies. In theory, a drama can be about literally anything, but a high number of contemporary dramas are about doctors, lawyers or police officers.
