In Depth

This season saw minor changes to the show. Contestants were were already standing behind their podiums while Johnny Gilbert intoduced them. Gilbert also leafs out from the Sony Pictures Studios in the beginning of the intro. It is the last full season where host, Alex has his moustache. From the start of this season to the episode aired April 20, 2001, a wind-blowing sound effect was used at the top of the show with a few seconds of the theme truncated. Also on the episode aired April 20, 2001 the show says good-bye to the jazzy 1997-2001 theme which is replaced the following episode, on April 23, with a brand new faster remix of the theme, first heard on the "Celebrity Jeopardy" episode, which aired on February 5, 2001. There were two versions of the theme. When it was first heard in February 2001, the introduction sounded similar to the 1997-2001 theme; this version was used for road shows. The other version featured a completely different introduction. During the season, the Jeopardy logo was seen in a yellow outline rectangle with two other rectangles, one above and one below, except in the opening, the Jeopardy logo and rectangles zoom away, then we see the shot of the finished product before a letter in Jeopardy zooms to reveal the 1996 set. On some episodes the Jeopardy Online logo remained intact at the end of the closing credits.
