Happenings

Characters

  • Robin: Robin has apparently grown a massive hatred for Victoria due to finally facing her feelings about Ted.
  • Barney: It is revealed that Barney's behavior and personality largely is derived from a relationship he had with a woman that dumped him. His catchphrase "Suit Up" came from a flyer that caused him to buy a suit and stop being a hippie. This neo-Barney has only been around since 1998.

Referbacks

  • The Pineapple Incident: Ted declared that he hadn't thrown up since 1993 while retelling the story of his night to Marshall and Lily. Marshall makes a reference to his claim being a lie in this episode.
Marshall: I thought you were vomit free since '93. So, that was a lie?
  • Pilot: Ted's story about puking on Robin's doormat after getting drunk occurs directly after the events of the first episode. The beginning of his story briefly recaps some of the important parts of that episode.

Trivia

The Show

  • Music: The song that plays during the ending montage is Off the Record by My Morning Jacket.

Behind the Scenes

  • Original Title: This episode was originally titled "Marshall-opoly."
  • Anachronism: When Shannon dumps Barney in the 1998 flashback, a copy of Shadow Puppets by Orson Scott Card can be seen on the bookshelf behind her. The book was published in 2002, four years after the flashback took place.
