- Robin: Robin has apparently grown a massive hatred for Victoria due to finally facing her feelings about Ted.
- Barney: It is revealed that Barney's behavior and personality largely is derived from a relationship he had with a woman that dumped him. His catchphrase "Suit Up" came from a flyer that caused him to buy a suit and stop being a hippie. This neo-Barney has only been around since 1998.
Referbacks
- The Pineapple Incident: Ted declared that he hadn't thrown up since 1993 while retelling the story of his night to Marshall and Lily. Marshall makes a reference to his claim being a lie in this episode.
- Marshall: I thought you were vomit free since '93. So, that was a lie?

- Anachronism: When Shannon dumps Barney in the 1998 flashback, a copy of Shadow Puppets by Orson Scott Card can be seen on the bookshelf behind her. The book was published in 2002, four years after the flashback took place.
