Plot Overview

Inch High Private Eye has been fired by his employer for being short, a firing which he claims to be discrimination. He goes to Birdman's office to hire him, but Birdman passes him by quickly in a rush to go to the gym when Peanut makes fun of him for being fat. At the gym, Inch finally gets his attention, but Birdman is distracted by a very forward Gravity Girl. He decides to ask her out and gloats about it to Reducto, but when Inch pops out of Birdman's pocket, it causes him to freak out.

Later that night, Birdman is awoken from his bed and winds up having GiGi and her two friends move into his house. Although it's clear that she's just using him, GiGi guilts Birdman when he brings it up and he folds. In an arbitration meeting, Birdman and Vulturo negotiate a deal that makes no sense whatsoever considering Inch went to Birdman for a wrongful termination suit. Afterwards, Harvey confronts GiGi about her being "too available," but she assures him that she only loves him. Birdman isn't convinced, however and attempts to figure out a way to find out for sure the GiGi loves him, completely forgetting about Inch.

While Inch attempts to get Birdman's attention, Reducto shrinks himself and the two battle to the death using toothpicks. Eventually, Reducto's gun accidentally shrinks a guy dressed as Abraham Lincoln and he gets involved in the brawl as well. After the fight, in the trial, Judge Mentok uses Reducto's gun to grow Inch to a normal size. Inch uses his newfound height to mock a carnival worker and show a video that proves GiGi's love for Birdman. She gets married to him and five other guys, as a result.

Notes

Trivia

The Show

  • First Appearance: This episode marks GiGi's first appearance in the series.

Behind the Scenes

  • Season Premiere: This episode is considered to be the actual season premiere of the second season because Blackwatch Plaid was aired in a stealth premiere before the rest of the episodes had been completed.
  • Stanley Vaporman: In the DVD commentary, the creators of the series comment that the series was nearly "Stanley Vaporman, Attorney at Law." He makes his first appearance as one of GiGi's friends in this episode.

Allusions and References

  • The Galaxy Trio: GiGi, Vince and Terry are actually The Galaxy Trio, the B segment in Birdman and the Galaxy Trio, the series in which Birdman first appeared. In the show, their names were actually Gravity Girl, Meteor Man and Vapor Man and they acted as a kind of galactic police force similar to the Green Lanterns in DC Comics.
  • Chinatown: The exchange between Birdman and Reducto, where Reducto is saying the he both loves and hates Inch, is a direct parody of a similar scene in the noir film Chinatown. In the film, Jack Nicholson slaps Faye Dunaway repeatedly, trying to get her to tell him who a blonde girl in her home is. The original exchange alternates between "She's my daughter!" and "She's my sister!"

Memorable Moments

  • Reducto has Birdman shrink him down so that he can have an epic battle with Inch. The two fight with toothpicks until a singing telegram messenger is also shrunk and joins the fray.
