Thatcher Grey is Meredith's father. He was married to her mother, Ellis for several years before they divorced. The marriage ended while Meredith was still a young child after Ellis had had an affair with Richard Webber, and he did not have contact with his daughter for many years. He later married Susan and they had two daughters, Lexie and Molly.
