Plot Overview

Killface learns that Phil's lawyers have put a lien on the Annihilatrix and have begun to part out the components, threatening his plans to push the Earth into the sun.

Meanwhile aboard the X-Calibur, Stan (as Awesome-X) threatens to blow up the head of an Xtacle each hour until they find Xander Crews. Luckily for the Xtacles, Xander stole Ronnie's robot pants and the pants have built-in GPS, allowing the Xtacles to track down Xander. Unfortunately, while Killface is out trying to stop the dismantling of his Annihilatrix and Xander is taking a shower, Simon steals the robot pants and takes all the knives. They start to track the pants, but get sidetracked at a pottery store.

Sinn returns to the apartment with one of Watley's eggs, but is fired by Killface and replaced by Barnaby Jones. Killface and Barnaby go out looking for Simon, but find it very difficult due to Killface's blindness. Barnaby gets the idea to kill a homeless man, Nearl, and take his eyes for Killface, but Killface accidentally shoots Barnaby, grazing his eyes and blinding him. Killface asks Nearl to drive them back home, but Nearl takes off with their ride.

The Xtacles eventually find Nearl, while Killface and Barnaby get a ride in the back of a truck carrying illegal immigrants.

Notes

Arc Advancement

Happenings

  • The Annihilatrix is parted out by Phil.

Characters

  • Sinn: Sinn returns from the ocean with one of Watley's eggs, but is fired from her job. She vows to see Killface and Xander in hell.
  • Xander: "Barnaby" is "hired" by Killface as a replacement for Sinn, but he loses his eyesight when his eyes are grazed by a shot from Killface's laser gun.
  • Simon: While his father is at the Annihilatrix and Xander is taking a shower, Simon steals Xander's robot pants, a bandoleer of knives and a cage full of rabbits.

Referbacks

  • 1x01 - Meet Killface: In his first appearance, Killface commented that they "can't ever go back to Arizona." Apparently what happened was that Simon got loose with a bunch of knives and went on a pet store rampage, although it isn't completely clear on what really happened.
Killface: My god, it's Arizona all over again!

Trivia

The Show

  • Driving Blind: While Killface is attempting to drive to the pet shop while blind, he hits several cars parked along the street. The dry cleaning guy can be seen out the back window yelling at him as he continues driving onward.

Behind the Scenes

Allusions and References

  • The Odd Couple: This episode's title is a reference to Broadway play and later ABC sitcom, The Odd Couple. The basic plot of the play and series is that a neurotic neat-freak is forced to move in with a slovenly roommate after his wife leaves him.
  • Magnum P.I.: The Xtacles write-off Awesome-X's weird behavior on his "cool" mustache, like Magnum P.I. Magnum P.I. was a crime drama that aired on CBS from 1980 to 1988. The main character was a mustached private investigator named Magnum.
  • Rick Simon: One of the Xtacles references Rick Simon instead of Magnum P.I. Rick Simon was one of the main characters on CBS' Simon & Simon which ran from 1981 to 1989. Simon, like Magnum, sported a thick mustache. Later, when the Xtacles go into the pottery shop, the same Xtacle can be seen working on a Rick Simon bust, complete with cowboy hat and mustache.
  • Babar and Shirt Tales: The GPS unit queries Nearl on his destination and Nearl responds: "Babar's house. Shirt Tales also. Shirt Tales. France." Babar the Elephant is a popular French children's fictional character who first appeared in 1931 and has since then been featured in numerous books and several animated movies. The Shirt Tales are characters created in 1980 for Hallmark greeting cards. In 1982, an animated Shirt Tales Saturday morning cartoon premiered and ran for two seasons on NBC and re-runs aired on CBS afterwards until 1985.

Memorable Moments

Quotes

  • Xtacle 1: Maybe we shouldn't have agreed to have remote controlled explosives put in our necks.
Xtacle 2: Well where were you at contract time?
Xtacle 1: Your mom's house. [Xtacle 2 pulls out a gun] Cleaning! Dude, I was only cleaning...
Xtacle 2: [lowers gun] Yeah, that's what I thought.
Xtacle 1: [pulls out gun] ...her vagina!
  • GPS Unit: Please enter your destination.
Nearl: Babar's house! Shirt Tales also! Shirt Tales. France!
Xtacle 1: Hey, that's not Crews. That's Nearl! The local retarded wino guy.
Xtacle 2: Well, yeah, right now. Hey Nearl.
    Nearl: I am Nearl!
Xtacle 2: Wanna make fifty bucks?
Nearl: Okay. [Xtacle 1's head explodes] Ahhh hah hah! Ohh, he scared me!
