Fish Police was an animated adaptation of a comic book created by Steven Moncuse for Fishwrap Publications. Hanna-Barbera produced the series for prime time on CBS.
The series centers around an underwater metropolitan city and a police detective, Inspector Gill. Mafia-type crimes and underwater references (not to mention some double entendres) are the basis of the storylines. Six episodes were made but only three were shown in the U.S. due to poor ratings. It was an attempt (as was Hanna-Barbera's previous prime time attempt, Capitol Critters) to duplicate the success of The Simpsons as prime time animation for adults.
