Dudley Do-Right was originally a segment of The Bullwinkle Show. It was slotted in on Sunday mornings to replace The Beatles cartoon, which ABC felt had run its course.
Dudley was the handsome but none-too-bright officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, whose main task was to bring in arch-villain Snidley Whiplash. Dudley sought the hand of Nell Fenwick, daughter of the RCMP commander, but Nell had a rather strange attraction to Dudley's horse.
Two Dudley cartoons were brackets for Fractured Fairy Tales and Peabody's Improbably History. When the show went syndicated afterwards as Dudley Do-Right And Friends, the middle features became elements from Total Television's King Leonardo and His Short Subjects.
