Courage the Cowardly Dog is an animated series about an elderly couple and their dog, Courage who is anything but courageous. The series plays to various aspects of horror and science fiction as Courage inevitably attempts to save his owners from certain doom.
The series first debuted with the short "The Chicken from Outer Space" on February 18, 1996 on What a Cartoon!, a series of short cartoons that also spawned such animated programs as Dexter's Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls. The series ran for four seasons before falling to the general Cartoon Network rule of cancelling or vastly retooling original series at the 52 episode mark.
