Bill Moyers Journal is a documentary news program and occasional talk show broadcast on PBS. The series was hosted by former Newsday publisher and noted journalist Bill Moyers. In each episode, Moyers took an approach similar to news magazine programs like 60 Minutes where the content is made up of in-depth coverage of the news of the day.
The series was first sparked following the sale of Newsday to the Times-Mirror Company, which caused Moyers to abdicate his role as publisher of the newspaper. He moved to television news on PBS with Bill Moyers Journal (1972) in 1972, which ran until April 16, 1976 when Moyers placed the series on hiatus in order to work for CBS News. It later returned three years later.
