BET Networks (short for Black Entertainment Television Networks) is the corporate entity currently owned by Paramount Global. It oversees the programming and distribution of the BET network, and its sister channels.
History
The BET network premiered as an independent TV network in January 1980. Ten years later, in 1990, BET Holdings was established as the parent company, being renamed BET Networks in 1994. Viacom acquired the company in November 2000, and following the Viacom split of 2005, BET Networks and MTV Networks became the television divisions of the "new" Viacom.
